Alone in the garden
I could swear that night and day
Were but a wave of emotion, and I was
A wolf alone
A pause in the courtyard
An open door
I let me slip away
I had left the asylum
Of a thought
And I was almost gone
But when I saw you down the walk
The garden overgrown
7 years then, to the day!
It was more than asylum that I’d sought
It was some ideal
Aware of the courtyard
As the coming dawn
Just swept it all away
For a fool with a motive, I’m told
Is a fool no more
Standing by the window looking out
On the sea
In the garden no one was around
Save for me

Sweet Decay
04:47
|

The evening speaks
It bares your name
Cicadas breath
Your warmth remains
All is not lost
And seeking peace
The lovers try
To climb, to kill
To pass the time
A restless heart
To call your name
Across the fields
The moonless day
How still the night!
Your message stayed
Another night
Of sweet decay

Endless Evenings
03:12
|

Black milk spilled on velvet
And the waters warm tonight
The moon eclipsed the hazy clouds
That raced across the sky
And my mind begins to wonder
Did I see it in your eyes?
To boldly peek through windows made
Of Earth and coal and fire
Well you seemed a little lost, my dear
But I couldn’t shut my eyes
Away from any fantasy and I let them suck me dry
But I miss that fatal glory
With those evenings in July
But the worried ways, the day to days
I leave them all behind
And I wonder, is the water high?
Has the summer waved goodbye?
It’s those hazy endless evenings that I morn
And here they lie
To me you’ve always been a memory
Like a page on which to write
That I fold and tuck away between
The black milk and the sky

Falling would be simple
Our love could be sweet
Our fates intertwined
As we wandered the vines
Meeting in a moment out of time
But it was a lie that freedom
And like a fool thought I’d break every chain
Yet your heart cut through
But you’re a wanderer too...
And right now it seems wanderings what I do
And you got me wandering
You got me wandering
Maybe when we’ve both found
That which must elude the vision sold
But if you were near
It might be more clear
Cause right now I’m just staring in a mirror
And you’ve got me wandering
You’ve got me wandering
Now the mountains they divine me
And I can’t tell if time is on our side
If one day we find that our paths intertwine
We’ll see what bends this road has got in mind
And you’ve got me wandering
You’ve got me wandering
